Daycare Center Pilot Program

Sitter FAQ

Why are we piloting this?

A number of both current and potential Rover pet parents have expressed they have pet care needs better suited to the local facility experience. We also believe that pet parents who discover Rover through local facilities will book other services as well, boosting demand for current sitters. Some facilities even noted that they’d like to refer customers to Rover for services they don’t offer, like cat care and dog walking.

Will this change the current in-home doggy day care or boarding service?

No, in-home doggy day care and boarding remains a key service on Rover. Based on surveys, we believe the majority of pet owners coming to Rover today prefer an in-home environment for their pet, and will continue to book in-home services with sitters. However, some pet owners have different needs for their pet that are better suited to a facility environment, and we want to offer service options for those pet parents as well.

How will the pilot work?

The pilot is running in six cities with a limited number of facilities and pet parents. Facilities can offer day care and boarding in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Atlanta, and offer day care only in Seattle, Denver, and Boston. Each facility will go through an onboarding process with our team, have a profile, and appear in search results.

We believe that by expanding into new services, we’re expanding opportunities for our entire community to grow and thrive. Sitters remain at the heart of the Rover experience, and we’re here to listen 24/7 if you have questions or feedback. As always, you can get in touch with Rover Support anytime in the Help Center.
